Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk
We hope you will join us for the Fifth Annual Free to Breathe® 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk in the Lake Charles area! The event provides an opportunity for lung cancer advocates, survivors and the community to come together to raise awareness and support to defeat this disease. 100% of the net proceeds from this event will be dedicated to supporting the Louisiana Lung Cancer Partnership and the Louisiana Hope Grant for lung cancer research.

7:45 a.m. - Welcome begins
(Warm-up and stretching will be led before the race.)
8:00 a.m. -1 Mile Walk begins

Run/Walk Course Descriptions & Routes:
5K
The 5K course begins behind the Lake Charles Civic Center on Bor-du-Lac Drive and winds through the Margaret Place Historic District. The course continues along Shell Beach Drive under the majestic oak trees, where participants will enjoy the peaceful view of Lake Charles on the right and the prestigious homes of Shell Beach Drive on the left.

Fundraising Information:
Each individual who raises $1,500 or more for the Louisiana Lung Cancer Partnership will receive a fundraising incentive. Set up an online fundraising page and download pledge and donation forms here.
Awards:
Participants will be chip-timed. The top overall winner of the 5K race will receive a pair of running shoes! Awards will be presented to the top male and top female 5K finishers in following age brackets: 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50+. All children in the 12 and under age group for the 5K run and 1 mile walk will receive medals.
Directions and Parking Information:
From I-10 West: Take the Lakeshore Drive exit, drive under the I-10 bridge and around to Civic Center
From I-10 East: Take the Lakeshore Drive exit and proceed around to Civic Center
From I-210: Take the Lake Street exit and proceed north to Shell Beach Drive. Turn right: Civic Center will be on left
Event parking is free.
